Julian Alvarez's Manchester City teammates texted him classy congratulations after Argentina won the world championship on Sunday.

Alvarez and his countrymen won the World Cup final against France in history when Argentina lost a two-goal lead in just 90 seconds, tied 3-3 after extra time, and then triumphed 4-3 on penalties.

Alvarez clearly had a significant effect on his team's potential to win the prized trophy for the first time since 1986, despite the fact that Lionel Messi dominates the narrative around Argentina's third global title.

After missing Argentina's opening two games, the 22-year-old City attacker started five straight games before scoring four goals in Qatar.

Alvarez shared two images, the first of him raising the trophy on the pitch in Qatar and the second of him clutching a copy in a sporting goods store as a young man.

He captioned the photos: "Just football. It's the dreams that are achieved. World champions 2022. Proud to be Argentinian."

While his Manchester City team mates have taken to his caption section to drop their messages.

Manchester City stars including Foden, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake replied with their messages of support.

Foden commented, "Congratulations," while Dias, Ake, Manuel Akanji and Kalvin Phillips all left love hearts. Sergio Gomez commented, "Hugeeeeee Juli!," and Valentin Castellanos, an Argentinian striker for City Football Group side Girona who faced City in a friendly on Saturday, said "Deserved friend, thank you."
