Cody Gakpo undergoes successful medical at Liverpool

Cody Gakpo, a star player for PSV Eindhoven, is said to have arrived in England for a medical before signing with Liverpool.

It comes after the Reds and the Dutch club agreed to pay €50 million (£44 million) for the desired striker.

On Monday night, Liverpool attempted to ward off competition from Manchester United by holding talks with the club.

Cody Gakpo, a star player for PSV Eindhoven, is said to have arrived in England ahead of a Liverpool medical.

On Boxing Day, PSV made the announcement that they had reached an agreement to sell Gakpo. 

Now, according to Fabrizio Romanothe forward, who had a great World Cup for Holland, is on his way to Liverpool to complete the deal.

Last summer, Leeds and Southampton made offers to Gakpo, but the Dutch club turned them down and Gakpo decided to stay at PSV.

The Holland international, who netted three goals for his country at the World Cup, had chosen to wait for offers from clubs competing in the Champions League. Despite the pull of United's Erik ten Hag, the 23-year-old found that Liverpool fit the bill. The Holland international has scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists in 24 appearances this season for PSV prior to his move to the Reds.
