Cristian Romero of Tottenham sends message to his team mate, Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero has sent a message to his national team mate, Giovani Lo Celso who missed out from the Argentine World Cup team due to injury.

The midfielder who is currently in loan at Villarreal suffered an injury which ruled him out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Before the World Cup began, the Albiceleste were among the favorites to win the tournament. However, after a shocking loss to Saudi Arabia in their opening match, in which Romero played poorly, people began to have doubts.

Even though Romero and Lo Celso barely played together at Tottenham, they appear to be very close friends. According to data from Transfermarkt, they shared the field for Spurs just 11 times, and only once for the entire 90 minutes.

However, despite this, they have maintained a strong bond off the field, as evidenced by their celebrations following Argentina's victory over France in the World Cup final.

Lo Celso, who is currently playing football for Villarreal in Spain, posted a picture of himself and Romero to his Instagram Stories. The text in the overlay said, "Que grande sos," which means: “How big you are.”

A pleased Romero reposted that on his own Instagram Stories and answered: "“I love you how much my friend, you are enormous, thanks to you for this one too.”

In the summer of 2019, Lo Celso signed a £55.3 million deal to join Tottenham from Real Betis, initially on loan but later on a permanent basis (Guardian). The 26-year-old player showed glimpses of his brilliance during his early days at Spurs, but he was particularly troubled by injuries. After that, he lost popularity, and Antonio Conte decided around the same time last year that he didn't like him.

Lo Celso was really good while he was on loan at Villarreal for the second half of last season. Although it was reported seven months ago that the Italian had determined that the midfielder was not a part of his plans even before the conclusion of the previous season, some fans anticipated that Conte would change his mind in the summer.

The Argentine was then sent back to Spurs on loan in the summer, and it is almost certain that he will sign a permanent contract soon.
