Coach Fernando Santos decided to start Goncalo Ramos instead and he scored a hat-trick, the first at the ongoing World Cup 2022 in Qatar.
There have been speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo isn't happy being on the bench in the national team, despite being the captain.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo was seen smiling during their training session on Friday December 9th 2022.
Portgual will face Morocco in their quarter final clash on Saturday evening.
Taking to his social media space, he praised the fans for their support saying: "There is a World Cup that Portugal has already won: that of the fans!
