On Boxing Day, when Arsenal host West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium, they will be back in Premier League action. However, Mikel Arteta may need to be cautious when selecting his team.
Reportminds Blog understands that William Saliba, Bukayo Saka, Ben White and Gabriel Jesus are at risk of suspension.
It's been gathered that Saliba and Jesus have four accumulated yellow cards while Saka and White have two each.
William Saliba is one of three Arsenal players who will have to follow strict disciplinary rules if they want to play in the Premier League match on Boxing Day against West Ham United.
There have been concerns that the defender, who played for France in the World Cup final, will not be ready to face the Hammers. This is especially true when one considers that the majority of the Gunners' stars who played in Qatar were given at least a week off after the tournament.
As stated in the FA's "Information for Players on Disciplinary Procedures" 2022-23 season guide at the beginning of the season, any player who accumulates five bookings before the cut-off point of 19 matches will be required to serve an automatic one-match ban. Mikel Arteta disclosed this information in his pre-match press conference. Saliba is expected to return to Arsenal training shortly and may be in contention to face the Hammers.
Saliba is the only Arsenal player currently in immediate danger of suspension after receiving four yellow cards this season in the Premier League.
If the Frenchman hadn't been ruled out for up to three months after knee surgery, Gabriel Jesus would have been in the same predicament. He will no longer be a suspension risk when he returns to action, which may be considered a bonus.
Ben White and Bukayo Saka both have three yellow cards on them elsewhere, so they need to be careful over the holiday season. Unless they are sent off, neither player would be ruled out of the Brighton match if they receive another caution, but they would be suspended for the big game against Newcastle United on January 3.
