The stunning World Cup journalist Zana Avdiu and Granit Xhaka's father got into a furious confrontation after she criticized his son's questionable gesture after Switzerland's 3-2 victory over Serbia last week.

When the Serbia bench was being pointed at by the Arsenal midfielder during their heated match on Friday, the substitutes became enraged and stormed onto the field.

"If she calls Granit Xhaka a street urchin, that's a great shame," Ragip fumed. "The woman who sits on this show and has no idea about sports, emotions, or Albanians.

"These people insult his mother, his wife and children, make a number of gestures, chant 'Kill the Albanians!', 'Kosovo is Serbia!' and she calls Granit a street boy.

"Granit's gesture was neither political nor sexist. Granit is Granit. He didn't make this gesture to offend anyone."

Albanian by ethnicity, the Xhaka family relocated to Switzerland just before Granit was born from neighboring Kosovo at the start of the Yugoslav War.

Both Xhaka and Xherdan Shaqiri, who both have Kosovan ancestry, were fined over £10,000 for making a pro-Kosovo double eagle gesture when Switzerland played Serbia at the 2018 World Cup.
