After his explosive TalkTV interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo has received a lot of harsh criticism from the media for his performances and behavior over the past month.
Alaba, who believes that Ronaldo deservingly deserves respect for his achievements in the game, has not taken kindly to their remarks.
“What he [Ronaldo] has done in the last 15 years, I am personally really grateful for,” Alaba told Servus TV about the criticism against the Real Madrid legend.
“He has helped shape our generation. What he has achieved is unbelievable. It’s sad and a shame that you have to see scenes like that or read such things about him.”
Following his departure from Manchester United at the end of last month, Ronaldo is now eligible for free agency.
In spite of regular reports from Spanish outlet Marca tipping the 37-year-old to finish paperwork for Saudi Bedouin club Al Nassr until 2030, he has made no declaration on his next club yet.
