Pele's son arrives to see him in hospital alongside his grandchildren as health deteriorates

Along with his grandchildren, Pele's son arrives to visit him in the hospital.

As Pele's condition deteriorates, his family has gathered at the hospital, where his daughter has pledged to remain by his side as the Brazil great receives treatment for his cancer.

On November 29, the 82-year-old was admitted to the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein in Sao Paulo after having a tumor removed from his colon in September 2021.

A hospital statement earlier this week stated that Pele required additional care "related to renal and cardiac dysfunctions."

Kely Nascimento, Pele's daughter, has confirmed that members of his family will spend Christmas in the hospital with him. His son, daughter, and grandchildren will also be by his side.

On Saturday, she posted an image on Instagram which showed her sitting close to one of Pele's children, Edinho, and two of his kids at the clinic.

Pele, 82, has had colon cancer since September 2021. On November 29, he was admitted to the hospital so that doctors could reevaluate his treatment.
