Joao Felix set to join Arsenal in January as he could reunite with Thomas Partey

Arsenal have emerged serious contender to win the race to sign the 22-year-old Portugal international who has been offered to number of clubs. 

During the January transfer window, it has been reported that Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta wants to expand his attacking options.

The Athletic's David Ornstein has uncovered that Arsenal might want to get a transfer deal for Felix in January.

"They [Arsenal] are keen to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid," Ornstein said on Wednesday night. "He's been offered to a number of clubs and at the moment the numbers are too high. Arsenal are keen to do it but the numbers would need to come down."

The Gunners are currently leading the Premier League title race as they sit comfortably top of the table after match day 17. 

Joao Felix seems to be interested in joining Arsenal but Atletico Madrid will only do a loan deal with no option to sign him on permanently. 

If you recall that Atletico Madrid signed the  Portugal international for £112 million from Benfica in the summer of 2019. 

It's been said that Arsenal's Thomas Partey, who was Felix's teammate at Atletico Madrid for one full season has been talking to the Portugese. 

In addition, they were observed chatting after Portugal's victory over Ghana in the group stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, in which Felix scored.
