Despite the signing of Dutch star Cody Gakpo for £44 million, Jurgen Klopp has not ruled out the possibility of additional January additions to Liverpool.
The Reds beat Manchester United to the punch when they swooped in to acquire the 23-year-old Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven before the January transfer window opened.
Even though Gakpo is an excellent attacking option who can play on the left wing or centrally, Klopp did not rule out adding more players next month.
'The money you spend impacts on the money you can spend. Same for anyone,' Klopp said ahead of Liverpool's home game with Leicester City on Friday night.
'But we know what we want to do and [we will] see if we can do it. It's about the money of course but it's more about how it always was - the right players.
'We are really, really happy we got Cody. It's about timing and getting players in at the right moment. He always made the next step.
'We believe in our process, when players - especially offensive ones - they all make a step forward because of the way we work and we can help them.'
Gakpo, who scored three goals for Holland at the World Cup in Qatar, will provide Liverpool with an immediate left-side replacement in the absence of Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
In all competitions, he had scored 13 goals and provided 17 assists for PSV in the early months of the season.
Klopp refuted rumors that Roberto Firmino will be leaving the club, despite the fact that Gakpo may eventually be moved to a more central forward position—one that he is familiar with from his time playing for Holland.
Jurgen Klopp, the Reds' manager, played down the possibility that Firmino would leave in January.
'No. We had talks with Bobby. From my point of view I want him definitely to stay. It has no impact. If it affects Bobby then you'd have to ask him,' Klopp said.
