Since the start of the modern era of English football in 1992, Scholes, Gerrard, and Lampard have traditionally been regarded as the top players in their respective positions.
But a poll from SPORTbible's Twitter handle has seen the ex Chelsea midfielder claim 41.8% of votes casted by fans.
Also, former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard comes in second place with Paul Scholes and Frank Lampard in third and fourth place respectively.
While De Bruyne wasn't particularly impressive during his first stint in England with Chelsea, he has since developed into one of the best players in the world.
