Manchester City moved back up to second place in the Premier League, five points behind league leaders Arsenal, with two goals from Erling Haaland, making him the fastest player to reach 20 goals in a season.
Through Rodri's follow-up goal, City took the lead just before halftime and sped into the distance in a one-sided second half.
Haaland, playing in the city of his birth against the team he supports and having a couple of shots saved early on, did not celebrate his goals but showed no mercy in securing them to add to his impressive tally in just his 14th game of the season.
He couldn't miss his first, which was set up in front of an open goal by selfless Jack Grealish, who had missed three good chances in the first 45 minutes.
Grealish again provided the assist for Haaland's second goal, which he converted from close range following a deflection to leave Leeds with an insurmountable deficit.
The home team didn't give up and scored again thanks to a header from a corner by Pascal Struijk, in keeping with their performance.
They could have also set up a grandstand finish if Joe Gelhardt's poked goal had not bounced off the goalpost.
However, City won to move back up to second place, two points ahead of Arsenal and two points ahead of third-place Newcastle, both of whom won on Monday.
