Joseph Jo Mersa Marley, Stephen Marley's son and the grandson of reggae icon Bob Marley, has passed away at the age of 31.
On Tuesday, the young musician was discovered unresponsive in a car in the United States. It was not stated where the tragedy occurred.
According to Florida radio station WZPP, he died of an asthma attack. He was said to have had asthma all his life.
Bob, Joseph's grandfather, passed away in 1981 from cancer at the age of 36. 11 children survived him.
On Twitter, Jamaican politician and opposition leader and People's National Party president Mark J. Golding expressed his grief for Marley's passing.
He wrote: “I’ve just learned of the tragic loss of Joseph “Jo Mersa” Marley. A talented young reggae artiste, son of Stephen Marley & grandson of Bob Marley at only 31 yrs old.
“The loss of a child is a devastating blow no parent should face, my condolences to Stephen & the entire family,” he added.
