Liverpool have signed Cody Gapko in a deal that could cost up to £45 million.

After a successful first half of the season with PSV Eindhoven and the World Cup with the Netherlands, Cody Gakpo was announced as Liverpool's new forward on Wednesday night.

Cody Gakpo will turn into the eleventh player to pull on the No.18 shirt for Liverpool subsequent to joining the Reds in a £45million move.

Two days after PSV Eindhoven announced that they had reached an agreement with the Anfield club to sell their prized forward, the deal was confirmed on Wednesday night.

In his first interview for his new club, Gakpo, 23, said he can't wait to start, and he hopes to do better than some of the players who have worn the No. 18 jersey before him.

Antonio Nunez, fan-favorite John Arne Riise, Erik Meijer, and Jean Michel-Ferri, who only made two substitute appearances under Gerard Houllier, were among the other Liverpool players to don the number 18. Michael Owen gave Michel-Ferri the shirt, which he wore when he first arrived at Anfield before switching to the highly sought-after No. 10.

Phil Charnock and Ronny Rosenthal are the only other players to have worn the number 18 for Liverpool.

At the World Cup in Qatar, the international for the Netherlands netted three goals. This season, the 23-year-old had nine goals and 12 assists in the Eredivisie.

Upon his arrival at the AXA training center at Liverpool, Cody Gakpo was seen chatting his national team mate, Virgil Van Dijk.

It appears that settling down at Anfield will not be a problem for the youngster with the presence of Van Dijk who happens to be a leader in the dressing room.
