Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Kalvin Phillips will be unavailable to face his former club, Leeds United.

The Premier League is expected to return following the end of 2022 FIFA world Cup in Qatar.

City who are second on the Premier League table will face Leeds United, and English midfielder is ruled out.

Injured midfielder Kalvin Phillips will miss Manchester City's Premier League match against Leeds United.

Phillips managed to finish his recuperation process right before the World Cup, therefore he was able to play twice for England during that competition.

He wasn't included in Man City's lineup, though, for their 3-2 EFL Cup victory against Liverpool on Thursday.

Pep Guardiola acknowledged Phillips' absence from the game due to a fitness issue in a post-game interview.

“Kalvin Phillips is not fit,” said Guardiola. “He did not arrive in the best condition to train and play. He is not ready. Ruben Dias is injured. Ruben has a hamstring from the last game in the World Cup and he is out.”

As they get ready for the return of the league, Man City are five points behind Arsenal at the top of the standings.

After a convincing victory over Liverpool, the Citizens are back in the English Premier League.
