"I texted Harry Kane after penalty miss for England against France" - Hugo Lloris

Hugo Lloris has said that after Harry Kane missed a penalty in England's World Cup quarterfinal loss to France, he texted his teammate and fellow Tottenham player to cheer him up.

To the amazement of the French players, Kane, who had already converted a penalty earlier in the match, stepped up when England was given a second penalty for pushing Mason Mount.

The Tottenham striker's effort was far past Lloris' bar, and it was crucial in England's elimination.

Lloris has now disclosed that he texted his club teammate from the changing room after Kane's heartbreaking missed opportunity to equalize left him in tears on the field.

'I don't need to go too much further, but we had a text after the game, but it was not easy to find the words straight after the game in the changing room,' Lloris explained.

'I think he needed some rest, but it was a difficult time for the England national team and for Harry.'

Meanwhile France who are tipped to be favorites to win the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, will face Morocco in the semi final.

The Les Blues who are the defending champion will face the Atlas Lions on Wednesday night.

Tottenham goalkeeper added: 'But I think he can be proud of what he's done for the national team during this World Cup. I think in football history many top players miss important penalties.'
