Fans will likely never learn the "real narrative" behind Cristiano Ronaldo's contentious departure from Manchester United, according to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
In a shocking interview with Piers Morgan last month, Ronaldo criticized the team and said he had "no regard" for manager Erik ten Hag, which led to the mutual termination of their contract.
Ten Hag recently struck back at Ronaldo, claiming that the forward never informed him directly that he wanted to quit United.
Ibrahimovic believes that despite Ronaldo and Ten Hag sharing their opinions, neither man has been totally truthful, making it difficult to make a conclusion on the matter.
'His exiting United, I think when things happen, we will never know the true story,' Ibrahimovic told reporters in Dubai.
'They say what they want to say, he says what he needs to say to protect himself, then you have the coach that says these things to protect himself.'
Recall that Manchester United decided to cancel contract of Cristiano Ronaldo following the bombshell interview.
The 37-year-old is currently a free agent and he has been linked to move to Saudi Arabia.
Ibrahimovic added that Manchester United will try to careful with their statement on Ronaldo's exit likewise the Portuguese international.
The Swedish international said: 'Then the club says things – not like me, I will tell you how it really happened. But we are all different. Everybody is careful about their image.
'For me the perfect image is being yourself. The true story we will not know my friend.'
