Following the completion of a deal to acquire Leandro Trossard from Brighton, Arsenal began a pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
Arsenal is negotiating a number of signings after a quiet start to the January transfer window, and they have already signed Belgian international Trossard.
Trossard may make his Arsenal debut when the Gunners take on Manchester United on Sunday. Arsenal currently leads the Premier League by five points
The Gunners paid about £27 million to sign Trossard to a contract at the Emirates after failing to secure a deal for Mykhailo Mudryk, who last week signed an £89 million transfer to Chelsea.
To help Arsenal win their first Premier League championship since 2004, Mikel Arteta is eager to keep bolstering his team.
Jakub Kiwior, a defender for Spezia, is close to joining Arsenal, but Arteta is also interested in signing a new midfielder to compete with Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.
Additionally, the Evening Standard reports that Arsenal has indicated interest in taking midfielder Camavinga on loan from Real Madrid for the remainder of the year.
Camavinga was acquired by Real Madrid from Rennes in 2021, but the Frenchman has had trouble getting into the lineup this year, starting just five La Liga games.
The 20-year-old player entered the game in the second half of France's World Cup final loss to Argentina in Qatar.
Arsenal's acquisition of Camavinga would be a temporary fix as they apparently plan to sign Declan Rice, a standout player for West Ham and England, in the summer.
