According to SPORT, Barcelona intends to speak with Dembele about a new contract once the transfer market closes and for the discussions to go pretty well.
Paris Saint-Germain is disappointed since they were apparently expecting to sign the French international. Dembele's contract ends at the conclusion of the 2024 season and reportedly has a €50 million (£44 million/$54 million) release clause.
The player has made it apparent that he is content at Barcelona, and he has proven it with a run of impressive performances.
When Dembele was jeered by Barcelona supporters a year ago, manager Xavi stood by the youngster and believed that he will rediscover his form. Xavi was correct, too.
Since the beginning of 2022, Dembele has scored and assisted on 28 goals, including two game-winning goals against Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey. Barca may still agree to new contracts even if La Liga financial rules may restrict them.
After a terrific performance on Wednesday night, Xavi applauded his player: "I think Dembele has matured a lot since we took over. We have just given him the tools. He is lethal. We always say when he comes inside, he has to shoot more because he has that quality and he can make the difference in games."
