A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a certificate forgery case brought by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State.
The lawsuit was dismissed by Justice Inyang Ekwo, who rendered a decision in the matter, for lack of competence and abuse of the legal system.
Ekwo drew attention to the fact that under Section 29(5) of the Electoral Act of 2022, only a candidate who took part in a party's primary may seek to have another candidate disqualified for providing incorrect information, as in this particular instance.
Additionally, the judge ruled that PDP lacked standing to file a lawsuit because it didn't take part in the All Progressives Congress governorship race that gave birth to Abdulrazaq.
