Court reinstates Ogundeji after firing the Deputy Speaker of Ondo

An Ondo High Court sitting in Akure has dismissed Hon. Aderoboye Samuel, the lawmaker who represents Odigbo Constituency II as Deputy Speaker of the Ondo Assembly.

Additionally, the court mandated that the Assembly immediately reestablish Hon. Iroju Ogundeji as its Deputy Speaker.

For alleged gross misconduct, Ogundeji, who represents Odigbo Constituency 2, was impeached. According to The Nation, he was suspended in July 2020 and failed to resume plenary in accordance with court orders.

 

Aderoboye was also told by the court to stop posing as the Deputy Speaker after the 2020 impeachment of Ogundeji was overturned.
