During a disastrous Thursday night at Craven Cottage, Chelsea sustained yet another injury blow.In a 2-1 defeat to rivals Fulham of west London, the Blues' midfielder Denis Zakaria was forced off before the hour mark.
The German joins a long list of injuries at Stamford Bridge, adding to the pressure on manager Graham Potter. On-loan forward Joao Felix was also sent off on his debut for a poor sliding challenge.
Potter provided an update following the match, saying: 'The only assessment is it's at the top of the quad. He felt it when he cleared the ball. In terms of the extent, it's too early to say.'
Although Zakaria was able to leave the field while clutching his thigh, his agitated expression as he stumbled down the tunnel suggests a significant absence.
The 26-year-old, who was on loan from Juventus, had played in Chelsea's last six games, so it will be a blow if he doesn't play.
The team suffered a triple setback last week when Christian Pulisic and Raheem Sterling both left the match against Manchester City in the first half. Mason Mount was ruled out before the start of the game, but he played 80 minutes on Thursday.
With Zakaria, Sterling, and Pulisic joining defenders Reece James, Wesley Fofana, and Ben Chilwell, goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, N'Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, and Armando Broja, Chelsea now has ten senior players out with injuries.
