Chris Wood, a striker for Newcastle, has been loaned to Nottingham Forest till the conclusion of the current campaign.

The agreement has a provision to make the transfer permanent through 2024.

The 31-year-old New Zealander leaves Newcastle, where he spent a year after moving there for £25 million from Burnley.

Wood, who assisted Newcastle in avoiding relegation last season, has played 18 league games this year, scoring twice, although just four of those games have been starts.

Despite an influx of newcomers last summer when the club established a new British record by completing 22 signings following their promotion to the Premier League, Forest manager Steve Cooper has been eager to add reinforcements in January.

Wood was acquired during the current transfer window after midfielders Danilo and Gustavo Scarpa.
