Memphis Depay, a two-and-a-half year transfer from Barcelona, has been officially announced by Atletico Madrid.

Memphis was seen working out with Atletico on Thursday evening with Barcelona's approval while the trade was being finalized. On Friday afternoon, the club announced the deal, and his presentation was set for that evening.

The transaction is said to be worth €3 million to Barcelona, with a further €1 million in variables. A deal to transfer Yannick Carrasco in the opposite direction during the summer has also been mooted.
During his 18 months at Camp Nou, the Dutch attacker played 42 times for Barcelona, scoring 14 goals and dishing out 2 assists. Though he had a promising start, all but one of his goal contributions came in his rookie year, and this season, he was of little use to Xavi Hernandez. He has only played 206 minutes of club football thus far.

On the other hand, as part of the agreement, Barcelona has acquired the option of a "preferential acquisition" of Atleti winger Yannick Carrasco, which might result in the Belgian player switching teams in the summer.
