Morgan Schneiderlin, a former midfielder for Manchester United, has unexpectedly joined Western Sydney Wanderers.
Nice has loaned the 33-year-old to the Australian team over the remainder of the current season. Despite being controlled by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Schneiderlin, who joined United from Southampton in 2015 for £25 million, has not featured for Nice this season.
He only spent 18 months playing for United, although he was present at Old Trafford when they won the FA Cup. Before being traded to Everton for £24 million, the former France international midfielder played 47 appearances for the Red Devils.
He later relocated to Nice in the summer of 2020, however he hasn't joined the team yet this season.
In the A-League standings, the Western Sydney Wanderers are presently third. They have played two more games than the league's top team, yet they still behind Melbourne City by six points.
Schneiderlin may make his debut when the Wanderers play Western United on February 5. After beginning his career in France with Strasbourg, the French midfielder moved to Southampton in 2008.
He assisted the Saints in their 2012 promotion to the Premier League before joining the Red Devils in 2015. The midfielder also traveled to both the 2016 Euros and the 2014 World Cup with France.
