Arsenal have been dealt blow after report suggest that Ferran Torres and Raphinha are set to stay at Barcelona.
Ferran Torres and Raphinha rumors linking Arsenal to Barcelona have been addressed by Fabrizio Romano.
Through his Substack column, Romano has been able to confirm to CaughtOffside that Arsenal had been making a strong effort to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk and that a deal was almost complete when Chelsea stepped in.
Recall that Chelsea hijacked the Mudryk deal as the Blues signed the 22-year-old for fee in region of £88m from Shakhtar Donetsk.
It's been gathered that Mikel Arteta is currently in search for a striker in the January window.
“Despite links with Arsenal, both Raphinha and Ferran Torres want to continue at Barcelona, so this is the situation as of now. Arsenal are discussing internally about the best candidate for new winger,” said Romano on his Substack.
Although Raphinha and Torres now seem to want to remain at Barcelona for the time being, Romano has verified that Arsenal are still in talks to recruit a new winger during the January transfer window.
Arsenal may have hastened its intentions to sign a new forward in January as a result of Gabriel Jesus' injury. Mikel Arteta might be concerned about their lack of offensive depth if they continue to contend with Manchester City for the Premier League championship.
