On the field, legendary Dutch striker Robin van Persie left a very distinct legacy, but it appears that the Van Persie name may soon return to the news.
This is due to the fact that Shaqueel Van Persie, the son of Van Persie, just received his first call-up to the Netherlands Under-17 team.
Shaqueel, 16, appears to have inherited his father's ability to score goals, having followed in his father's footsteps as a striker.
His record-breaking 16 goals in 13 Feyenoord U17 games this season, when "RVP" retired from the team, earned him his first international call-up.
Additionally, his development has been overseen by his father alone.
Following his retirement, Arsenal and Man Utd legend Van Persie moved into the club's youth coaching setup, where it appears to have paid off for the family.
Van Persie was spotted dining with Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag last month, despite his current position as assistant to Arne Slot.
Shaqueel was given a contract with Feyenoord in May of this year, and Van Persie senior tweeted: congrats, Shaq!"
Shaqueel could still choose to play for Morocco despite his call-up to the Oranje because of his mother's background, Bouchra.
However, for the time being, he will be representing Holland on the international stage, possibly with the long-term objective of attempting to surpass his father's total of fifty international goals.
He scored 132 goals for Arsenal during an injury-plagued time before moving to Manchester in 2012 to play in the red of North London.
Van Persie scored 26 goals and had 15 assists as Man United won the title thanks to the move, which proved to be a brilliant decision for both him and the team.
After years of mediocrity and stagnation, Arsenal has only recently remembered their own title-winning history, while the Red Devils have not even come close to winning a title since.
