Rio Ferdinand, a legend of Manchester United, has shared what Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, told him regarding Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal.

Arteta is a diligent worker, according to Ferdinand, who also said that Guardiola mentioned the former Arsenal midfielder's desire and expertise.

Following Sunday's 3-2 Premier League victory for Arsenal against Manchester United, the former England defender made this statement on Monday.

Speaking on his show FIVE, Ferdinand said, “Patience and time.

“Getting a manager you believe in, the club did in [Mikel] Arteta.

“Pep [Guardiola] said this when I interviewed him about Arteta, he said, ‘The guy works so hard. He is such a hard worker, he is so passionate, so involved, so engrossed in what he is doing, and he knows what he’s doing'”.

If you recall that Mikel Arteta started his managerial career as an assistant under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

The Spanish boss then returned to Arsenal where he replaced Unai Emery in 2019, winning the FA Cup and Community Shield.

This season, Mikel Arteta is looking at ending Arsenal's 19 years Premier League title drought.

The Gunners are on top of the Premier League table with a five points gap between themselves and second placed, Manchester City.

He added, “You can see why the club have taken him and stuck by him at the beginning when it was not going so great. Because they saw the long picture of what it looked like.

“The big difference between the two sides was one manager looked like he had been there for the time he had, Arteta, and one looked like he was at the beginning of his journey.”
