Stefan Bajcetic: Liverpool 18-year-old has signed four-year contract extension after breaking into first-team

Stefan Bajcetic, a youthful Liverpool player, received a new contract as compensation for his season-long ascent to the first team.

The 18-year-old has made 10 appearances in the Champions League and has started games in the Premier League, where he also scored his first goal. He has also played in the FA and Carabao Cups.

Bajcetic has signed to a new four-year contract, admitting that his quick ascension from under-18 football to the first team squad last season astonished even him.

The Spaniard's new contract reflects the club's policy of bringing in and keeping the best young talent, with nine of the club's last ten permanent signings being 25 or younger. He cost £220,000 when he joined from Celta Vigo in December 2020.

The promising young player is overjoyed to have committed his long-term career to Liverpool as he strives to keep making more frequent starts.

According to teammate Andrew Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, a former academy graduate who is now a superstar, has been assisting the development of Liverpool's young players, Klopp will be hoping that Bajcetic can continue to improve on a trajectory similar to that of Alexander-Arnold.

Liverpool is getting ready for its FA Cup fourth-round matchup against Brighton on Sunday. Brighton defeated Liverpool 3-0 at the Amex earlier this month.
