William Troost-Ekong, a defender for the Super Eagles, has revealed he has left Watford and is on his way to Serie A team Salernitana.
The Nigerian defender is set to return to the Serie A where he previously had spell with Udinese.
The 29-year-old Nigerian international was reportedly on his way to Italy to join Salernitana, first on loan with an eye toward a permanent deal.
According to Sky Sports, the Serie A team is required to purchase the Nigerian at the end of the current campaign.
Following a previous two-season stay with Udinese, Troost-Ekong will return to the Italian top division (2018-2020).
In September 2020, Troost-Ekong transferred from Udinese to Watford and made 70 appearances.
He wrote on his social media space, “The moment has come for me to move on from Watford FC after three special seasons shared with everyone involved. From everyone at the restaurant, security workers, volunteers at the stadium to the medical & office staff and all the rest you have made my time what it was. The coaches and most of all my teammates, I can only say thank you!!!
