Benoit Badiashile, a defender for the national team of France, has been acquired by Chelsea for £35 million.
Cesc Fabregas has approved Chelsea's £35 million acquisition of Benoit Badiashile.
Badiashile, a France defender, has completed his move from Monaco, where he was a teammate of the Spaniard, to Stamford Bridge.
The Premier League club has confirmed that the 21-year-old has signed a seven-and-a-half-year contract in west London. Prior to that, the player had played more than 100 games for the Principality side in Ligue 1. He has also participated in the Champions League and received two caps for Les Bleus. In September of last year, he made his debut for Didier Deschamps' team in a 2-1 victory over Austria.
“What a signing” was the Premier League and World Cup winner’s simple declaration on social media. “Good luck my friend.”
Following the additions of Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana during the summer transfer window, left-footed Badiashile is Chelsea's third major signing for a center back this season. This month, the club's transfer executives and new manager, Graham Potter, had given priority to acquiring a left-handed defender who could play in a back three or four.
After striker David Datro Fofana joined from Molde earlier this week, Badiashile becomes Chelsea's second January signing.
