Casemiro, a star for Manchester United, was awarded a straight red after grabbing Will Hughes by the throat against Palace.
Casemiro was given a straight red card against Crystal Palace and will now miss Manchester United's next three home games.
After a VAR review, the Brazilian was sent out for grabbing Will Hughes by the throat during a significant post-halftime altercation.
At Old Trafford, United was coasting after Marcus Rashford gave the home team a 2-0 lead in the 62nd minute.
A throw-in was required less than ten minutes later, and Jeffrey Schlupp aggressively dragged Antony, a 22-year-old winger, off the field, causing him to tumble into the trench.
Before it appeared that something was said to Antony by a Palace man and caused him to rise up in rage to confront, he appeared to be in pain.
Then, a number of players from both United and Palace got involved, including Casemiro, who had a verbal altercation with Schlupp before Antony chest-bumped the midfielder.
That set off the pivotal episode, which resulted in Casemiro grabbing Hughes by the throat as tempers escalated.
Following the straight red card, Casemiro will now Manchester United next game against Leeds United in the mid week as well as next two games.
Although, the effect of Casemiro absence might not be felt much for Erik Den Hag who will have to call on his January signing Marcel Sabitzer.
The 28-year-old made his debut in the game against Crystal Palace to replace the void of Casemiro in the midfield.
Recall that Sabitzer joined from Bayern Munich on deadline day of the just completed January transfer window.
