Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal this season, has received praise from former Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs.
On ESPN FC, Gibbs was talking about the Arsenal team and asked for his player of the year so far.
Tomorrow, Arsenal will play Everton in their game-in-hand, which could increase their advantage over Manchester City to five points.
After losing at Goodison Park earlier this month, Mikel Arteta's team will be out for vengeance.
It was only their second league loss of the season and a minor setback for the team.
However, Arsenal has now won two straight games, and according to Gibbs, Martin Odegaard played a significant role in that.
When asked to identify the best player in the Gunners lineup thus far in this season, Gibbs responded: “That’s so tough, that’s so tough, because they’ve just been so strong.
“If I had to pick anyone, I would say [Martin] Odegaard. I think he’s just been instrumental and everything goes through him.
“His consistency and his level of performance has just been outstanding and he’s a top, top player.
“I think I would give it to him.”
Kieran Gibbs is a former Arsenal full back who is currently playing in the MLS with Inter Miami FC.
