Dad of late Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso, Marcos Alonso Pena, tragically passed away at the age of 63.
Pena died after a "long illness, the cause of his tragic death is currently unknown," according to Spanish media.
Prior to joining Atletico Madrid, Pena began his career with Racing Santander in the late 1970s.
After that, he joined Barcelona, where over the course of five years, he played 124 games and scored 28 goals.
After leaving Santander and Atletico later in his career, the Spanish winger retired in 1991.
Pena also made 22 international appearances for Spain, scoring once.He hung up his boots and went on to have a managerial career.
Along with Sevilla and five other clubs, he assumed leadership of his beloved Atletico and Racing.
Because his father, Marcos Alonso Imaz, played for Real Madrid in the 1950s and 1960s, Pena was a second-generation Spanish football player.
