Kazuyoshi Miura, the oldest footballer in the world, has reportedly agreed to join a Portuguese team at the age of 55, despite claims that he wants to play until he is 60.

Reportminds Blog understands that Miura will join Portuguese second-division side Oliveirense on loan from Japanese J-League team Yokohama FC until the end of the season. He has previously spent time in Japan, Brazil, Italy, Croatia, and Australia.

Miura has been with the team for over 50 years, but this is only his second loan stint away from Yokohama since he joined in 2003, when he was just 33.

Miura, who has stated that he will play until he is 60, will turn 56 in February, but he does not appear to be mentally exhausted.

He will play for the third time in Europe and is known as "King Kazu" in his home country. He hopes to improve on his record of two goals in 18 games for his brother's fourth-division team in Japan last season.

Miura is the oldest football player in the world at the moment, a record that doesn't seem likely to be broken anytime soon. If he scores for his new team, he will become Europe's oldest professional goal scorer.
