At a ceremony in Paris on Monday, the Aston Villa goalkeeper won FIFA's "The Best" goalkeeper award.
Martinez won the award over Morocco's Yassine Bounou and Belgium's Thibaut Courtois. In his speech, Martinez thanked his parents for helping him reach the top. Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni and captain Lionel Messi, as well as his former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, were seen smiling as they listened to Martinez's speech.
As Martinez delivered his speech, the cameras eventually pan to Mbappe, who appeared stern-faced.
Martinez won the award after playing a big role for Argentina at the World Cup and making a crucial save in the final to keep the score at 3-3.
Despite Mbappe's hat trick, Argentina prevailed thanks to his crucial save from Kingsley Coman's penalty kick.
The Argentina goalkeeper received a lot of criticism for his wild celebrations, including holding a baby doll with Mbappe's face on it and calling for a minute of silence in the locker room.
It happened despite Martinez being one of the first to offer Mbappe comfort following France's heartbreaking loss.
