Pep Guardiola mocks Man United's rivals for winning the Carabao Cup.
Manchester United's rivals have been mocked by Pep Guardiola for claiming that they can win more games if they "spend a little more."

Given the criticism he and City receive, Guardiola has taken the opportunity to poke fun at the Red Devils' spending habits after they won the Carabao Cup on Sunday, their first trophy in six years. The Red Devils spent more than £200 million in Erik ten Hag's first summer.

The perception that his City have largely enjoyed success due to their spending power has prompted Guardiola to speak out more. He and his team have won four of the last five league titles and are aiming for a third in a row, in addition to consistently winning domestic cups.
He said: “Congratulations to United for the Carabao Cup and to Newcastle as well - the game was entertaining. If they spend a little more money, yes [they can challenge more regularly]. "It’s because they didn’t spend, isn’t it?"

If you recall that Manchester United recorded success in the Carabao Cup over the weekend, defeating Newcastle United in the final over the weekend.

It was Erik Den Hag First silverware as coach of Manchester United since he took charge at the summer.

Guardiola added: “It’s normal, they’re in the position they normally should be. The reality is that they fought against two teams in the last years - Liverpool and ourselves - that have done incredibly well in the numbers. When I landed here I thought United would always be there, for the history, for everything. Erik is doing an incredible job."
