Man U defender, Lisandro Martinez names his toughest opponents He faced in EPL

Lisandro Martinez, a defender for Manchester United, said that the toughest opponent he has faced thus far in his Premier League career was an Arsenal forward.

The Argentine center back has established himself as one of the best signings of the summer transfer window by proving many of his doubters wrong in his first season at Old Trafford.

It doesn't mean, though, that he has everything his way. Martinez was notably replaced at halftime of United's 4-0 thrashing by Brentford on the second weekend of the season, and he has acknowledged that his toughest matchup came a few weeks later.

Martinez identified Gabriel Jesus of Arsenal as his most challenging opponent in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.

In a 3-1 loss to the Manchester United back in September, Jesus started up front for the Gunners, putting on an all-action performance and commanding the press from the start. On that particular day, Bukayo Saka scored for Arsenal. Debutant Antony then gave United the lead before Marcus Rashford netted a brace in the second half.

Jesus joined Arsenal from Manchester City last summer, and despite criticism for his wastefulness in front of goal, he has appeared to be a much more dynamic player.

Jesus has contributed five goals and five assists in 14 Premier League games so far for Mikel Arteta's team, but he hasn't played since the World Cup break after sustaining a knee injury while representing Brazil in Qatar.
