Aboubakar, Cristiano Ronaldo wanted him to stay at Al-Nassr despite claims that the Portuguese forward's arrival forced him out of the Saudi Arabian club.
Following weeks of speculation, Al-Nassr successfully completed a deal to sign Ronaldo on a free transfer in December of last year after the forward's contract with Manchester United was mutually terminated.
Al-Nassr was forced to sell one of their foreign players as a result of Ronaldo's arrival.
Aboubakar was fired by Al-Nassr to sign Ronaldo, it was revealed in the first few days of January.
“With the arrival of Cristiano, I made it clear to the coach before his arrival that I already wanted to leave. When Ronaldo arrived, a foreign player had to be released,” Aboubakar said on the French television channel Canal+.
Aboubakar has since signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Turkish powerhouse Besiktas, but he recently disclosed that he had already made up his mind to leave the Riyadh-based team even before Ronaldo's arrival.
He added: “Ronaldo asked me to stay and the club wanted me to stay at least until the end of the season, but I wanted to leave. The club wanted me to stay and were ready to pay my salary until the end of the season.”
