Barcelona head coach, Xavi Hernandez has taken time to give the fitness update on injured Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele.
A knee injury has sidelined Barcelona forward Ansu Fati.
Barcelona has not yet provided an estimated timeframe for the young man's recovery after suffering the injury during Friday's training session.
But Xavi, the forward's manager, anticipates his availability for El Clasico on Thursday.
While Fati struggled with his knee in late 2020 and early 2022, he is anticipated to play in the Copa del Rey semifinal.
“Ansu Fati suffered a left knee contusion during this afternoon’s training session. He is out and his recovery will determine his availability,” Barcelona said on Twitter on Friday.
Ousmane Dembele, on the other hand, has missed the last six games because of a hamstring injury.
He will also be absent from the first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinal against Real Madrid in addition to missing both matches against Manchester United in the Europa League play-off.
The winger is not yet fully recovered, but is getting close, according to Xavi.
“[Dembele] is fine,” Xavi added. “Yesterday, he trained well.
“He looks fine, but he’s not 100% ready yet. He’s about to return to team training, so it all depends on his recovery. We trust his instincts, he’s fine and that’s important.”
Meanwhile, Barcelona will hope to bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Manchester United in the Europa League.
The Blaugrana were knocked out of the competition after their lost second leg 2-1 at Old Trafford stadium last mid week.
This weekend, Barcelona travel to Almeria in the Spanish Primera league, victory for Barca will see them extend their lead after second placed Real Madrid drew to Atletico.
