According to reports, if Manchester United wins this afternoon's championship game, Bruno Fernandes and club captain Harry Maguire will jointly raise the Carabao Cup trophy.
That is what The Mirror reported this morning, just before the game started.
Due to Maguire's frequent absences from the starting lineup, Fernandes has served as the team's captain for the majority of the games this season.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave the England international the armband in January 2020 after Ashley Young left for Inter Milan, and the decision was met with surprise because Maguire had only joined the team five months earlier.
The final of today begins at 4:30 PM at Wembley Stadium. The Reds take on a hot Newcastle United team with the chance to end their six-year trophy drought.
