Arsenal will face Sporting CP in the Europa League round of 16 with a significant injury boost. Gabriel Jesus was one of the people who trained at London Colney on Wednesday morning in preparation for Thursday's European match.
As the Arsenal prepare to face a team that dropped out of the Champions League after a disappointing season, Mikel Arteta is putting his team through its paces.
In the Europa League round of 16 on Thursday, Arsenal take on Sporting CP in Portugal. In preparation for the match, Mikel Arteta's team has been training at London Colney.
Jesus was seen entering the field with Thomas Partey during the Gunners' initial training session on Wednesday morning at London Colney. The Brazilian returning will be a welcome sight for Arteta ahead of an important part of the season, dressed in a thick black jacket, gloves, and a snood.
Gabriel Jesus, who signed for Arsenal from Manchester City in the summer, is said to have missed the World Cup because he injured his knee while playing for Brazil in Qatar. Arteta and Arsenal had been trying to avoid giving a timetable for Jesus's return, but the fact that he is now training with the rest of the team in the first team may indicate that he will return to match day action soon.
Even after Jesus resumed training, Arteta had a few notable absentees. Eddie Nketiah, Kieran Tierney, and Leandro Trossard did not participate in training, so they are not expected to play against Sporting CP on Thursday.
