Ivan Toney of Brentford has been called up for England's Euro qualifiers.
The England team has called up Ivan Toney, while Trent Alexander-Arnold, Raheem Sterling, and Ben White have all been left off the roster for this month's Euro 2024 qualifiers against Italy and Ukraine.
Toney, a striker for Brentford who has never represented England, is the third-leading scorer in the Premier League with 16 goals, but he might soon be subject to a long suspension for allegedly breaking the FA's gambling laws.
The two losers from Gareth Southgate's most recent selection are Callum Wilson, who went to the World Cup but has only scored once for Newcastle since October, and Conor Coady, who was not played in Qatar and has lost his spot in the Everton side under Sean Dyche.
The manager has also called up Ben Chilwell in addition to Toney, who hasn't represented England since November 2021 but is back in action for Chelsea following a string of injuries.
Reece James, Chilwell's Blues teammate, also rejoins the squad after missing the World Cup due to injury, while Marc Guehi, a defender for Crystal Palace, gets his first call-up since September.
Despite Kalvin Phillips and Harry Maguire having trouble getting playing time at Manchester City and Manchester United, respectively, Southgate has kept them in his squad.
Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford, Nick Pope, Aaron Ramsdale
Defenders: Ben Chilwell, Eric Dier, Marc Guehi, Reece James, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier, Kyle Walker
Midfielders: Jude Bellingham, Conor Gallagher, Jordan Henderson, James Maddison, Mason Mount, Kalvin Phillips, Declan Rice
Forwards: Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Bukayo Saka, Ivan Toney
