ERLING HAALAND is a serious question mark for tomorrow's crucial match between Manchester City and Liverpool.

A slight groin injury the 42-goal striker sustained when completing a hat-trick against Burnley two weeks ago has kept him out of action.

He continued to get treatment and performed mild exercises, so he did not train with his teammates on Wednesday or yesterday.

With City eight points behind leaders Arsenal, Haaland now faces a race against time to be ready for the noon showdown at the Etihad.

Alf-Inge, his father, said over the weekend that the striker won't take on the Reds until he can fully participate in the buildup. Also, Pep Guardiola's team has a free week coming up, so the champs won't want to take any chances as they pursue the Triple Crown.

Haaland, 22, had some groin pain after his hat-trick in their 6-0 FA Cup demolition of Burnley on March 18.

During following weekend, he reported for duty with Norway's national team, but it quickly became apparent that he would not be fit to play in their Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Before spending some time unwinding at his vacation home in Marbella, the £51.4 million star paid a visit to the recommended medical professionals for his team in Barcelona.

Haaland eventually made his way back to Manchester late on Sunday night, but has yet to participate in a full team practice.

Nevertheless, his father said last week that the former Borussia Dortmund player needed to be adequately trained in order to have any chance of starting tomorrow.
