Ederson, a standout for Manchester City, expressed his surprise at Brazil's choice to pass on Alisson of Liverpool.

Alisson, who competes with Ederson for the starting goalkeeper position for Brazil, was not selected by his team during the March international break.

Brazil's lone match during this international break will be a friendly match against Morocco on Saturday.

Ramon Menezes, the interim coach, unveiled his 23-man roster for the match earlier this month.

Alisson, who has been his nation's first-choice goalie since around 2016, was undoubtedly one of the squad's many unexpected withdrawals.

“The first moment I saw the list I was surprised, but it’s the coach’s decision. They are choices, I thought he would be on the list, but he was not,” Ederson told reporters ahead of the game.

“I do not know why, if it is a matter of opportunities for younger players.”
