Didier Deschamps, head coach of the France national team, has chosen to make Kylian Mbappe the squad's captain.

Given that the coach believes Mbappe possesses the traits of a leader, the PSG star will now wear the captain's armband for the Les Blues.

The French national team has picked Kylian Mbappe, a forward for Paris St. Germain, as its new captain.

"Kylian meets all the requirements to have this responsibility," France manager Didier Deschamps told French TV channel TF1 in an interview to be aired on Sunday.
Mbappe is expected to replace Hugo Lloris, the goalie for Tottenham who announced his retirement from international competition in January.

Deschamps added: "On the field as in the life of the group, by being a unifying element."

Mbappe, 24, made his senior debut in 2017 and went on to win the Euros and FIFA World Cup. He has 66 appearances for France.

Mbappe was the top scorer in the FIFA tournament last year in Qatar, but Argentina won the world championship on penalties.

On Tuesday, Deschamps announced Mbappe as captain and Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann as vice-captain, according to the French Football Federation (FFF).
Mbappe led all scorers in the 2018 World Cup as he assisted France in reaching the championship match, which they lost to Argentina.

As you remember, the PSG striker helped France win the world championship for a second time in 2018 by scoring twice against Croatia in the championship game. He was also awarded the competition's best young player.
