Mykhailo Mudryk's absence from Chelsea's last two games is explained by Graham Potter.

Mykhailo Mudryk, a £88 million January acquisition by Chelsea, was absent from the team's most recent matches against Leeds United in the Premier League and Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

“He’s a player we believe in a lot,” said Potter when asked why Mudryk hasn't been playing.

“He’s adapting. When he arrived, he was in a start of a pre-season campaign. To hit the Premier League running, it’s not easy to do."

The 22-year-old has been left on the bench for the fee games and he's yet to score for the Blues.

Chelsea will face Leicester City in the Premier League this weekend and it's uncertain if Mudryk will be in starting line up.

If you recall that Graham Potter side recorded 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund to qualify for the quarter final stage in UCL.

Despite losing 1-0 in the first leg in the Signal Iduna park, Blues turned the game around at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night with Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz goals.

Potter added that Mudryk is still adapting and getting use to physicality of the league.

He said: “Day by day he’s getting stronger. He’s in the squad, chance he can play.”
