The deceased, who held a show at Ayefele Music House, Challenge, Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, with the pair Komolafe Olaiya and Olalomi Amole, was reportedly on his way to Fresh FM radio station when he fell.

According to the Daily Trust, Baba Bintin reportedly had to walk from his home in the Amuloko neighborhood to Challenge since he was unable to find the money to pay for transportation there. After getting the call concerning Baba Bintin's medical emergency, Olalomi Amole and Komolafe Olaiya suddenly halted their Saturday morning show, Oyin Adun, 20 minutes before the scheduled time.

Since February, Nigerians have struggled with a shortage of Naira notes. Due to the Central Bank of Nigeria's (CBN) naira redesign strategy, there was a shortage (CBN). The CBN had updated the N200, N500, and N1000 notes and gradually phased the old notes out of circulation, but certain governors had appealed the top bank's decision to the Supreme Court. President Muhammadu Buhari issued an order stating that only N200 old notes shall continue to be valid currency in light of the court's old note verdict.

The court, however, decided on March 3 that the old N500 and N1000 notes should continue to be accepted until December 2023.

The Federal government and the CBN have not yet complied with the directive, which is prolonging the shortage of Naira notes.
