Patrick Vieira: Crystal Palace have sacked ex Arsenal captain as Eagles sit in relegation position in the EPL table

Patrick Vieira was fired by Crystal Palace after a miserable 12-game losing streak that had the Eagles careening towards Premier League relegation.
Patrick Vieira has been fired as the first-team coach of Crystal Palace, the club has announced.

The choice was made during a poor stretch of play for the Eagles in 2023, who had lost all 12 of their games since the new year.

After a spate of defeats, Palace is now only three points above the Premier League's relegation zone, with Bournemouth in 18th position.

Who will lead Palace when they go to the league-leading Arsenal on Sunday afternoon is still unknown.

After being named head coach in July 2021, former Gunner Vieira has been in control of Palace for over two years.

The Frenchman led them to a 12th-place finish in the previous season at that period, winning 30% of his 74 matches in charge.

This season, things have proven to be far more difficult for the former Nice manager, which has ultimately resulted in his resignation.

The Eagles have lost their last three games, with their most recent setback coming at the hands of rivals Brighton in a key Premier League matchup.

And Vieira's team had gone three straight games without a shot on goal before the loss to the Seagulls.
