Upon Gabriel Jesus' return to the field of play, Ian Wright and Alan Shearer both expressed the same dissatisfaction. The striker was a second-half substitution in Sunday's victory for Arsenal against Fulham.
In Craven Cottage, Arsenal defeated them 3-0 with ease. Leandro Trossard's first-half three assists were enough to defeat Marco Silva's team.
For the first time since November, Jesus was called to a Gunners matchday roster. He is now healthy after missing the past three months of play due to a knee ailment.
With 13 minutes left to play in the game, Mikel Arteta felt confident enough to substitute him in. The moment he entered the field, Arsenal supporters cheered loudest of the day.
But if the former Manchester City player had seized an opportunity that presented itself, it may have been much louder. Jesus slipped slightly as Bernd Leno stopped a mediocre shot as he was through on goal.
The only letdown from Jesus' return, according to Wright, was that.
To Premier League Productions, he said:"I was [delighted] and I was just hoping he could have just stayed on his feet.
"We were all desperate for him to score as Arsenal people because it does make a massive difference when you've been on the treatment table that long, you score a goal, it just gives you that feeling again. I was hoping that he could have got that."
The Gunners have kept their five points gap between themselves and second placed Manchester City.
Arsenal will now host Sporting Lisbon at the Emirates stadium on Thursday night in the second leg of the Europa League round of 16 clash.
Former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer also said this about Jesus: "Nearly [the perfect return]. The result was perfect, him getting on for 15 minutes or so was perfect, and you can imagine what it would have done to him, all that hard work, in the gym on your own, looking at the players going out everyday training, all that hard work would have been all worthwhile.
"I know he'll be feeling good because he's back on the football pitch, and the atmosphere and you get that great feeling again. But it would have been perfect had he seen the ball hit the back of the net."
